Italian Riviera

Imperia

The city of Imperia was formed in 1923, when the town of Oneglia joined with Porto Maurizio, together with other smaller places in the immediate vicinity such as Castelvecchio, Costa d'Oneglia, Borgo Sant'Agata, Piani, Poggi, Torrazza, Moltedo Superiore and Montegrazie.

Porto Maurizio, at the western extremity of the city, began as a fishing village. Through its centre rises the steep hill called Parasio, the oldest part of the town. Its fine buildings and splendid views make it one of the main attractions of the Impero valley.

The region around Imperia is characterized by the mild Riviera climate, with its profusion of olive, lemon and orange trees, bougainvillea, mimosa, agaves, carnations and roses.
The number of sunny days throughout the year is exceptionally high, and even in winter many pleasurable days can be spent in the open air.

The city of Imperia, in the heart of the "Riviera dei Fiori", is celebrated among Italians and visitors alike as the ideal place for a holiday.
